Transforming Coca Cola with Elando’s custom Tech Solution
Company:
Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (CCHBC), a global leader in bottling The Coca-Cola Company’s products, has operations spread across 28 countries, predominantly in Europe and the Middle East. CCHBC is responsible for manufacturing, distributing, and marketing an array of non-alcoholic drinks, encompassing universally recognized brands such as Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, and various local and regional names.
Challenge:
CCHBC faced challenges due to SAP software’s limitations. As their growth trajectory continued, they acknowledged the necessity for a bespoke business operations solution. However, CCHBC lacked the engineering manpower to embark on such a project, leading them to engage Elando’s services. The initial implementation occurred in Italy, starting as a proof of concept to test the feasibility of transitioning Profit and Loss planning away from the less flexible SAP.
This was a considerable task requiring a deep understanding of the existing system and the capacity to design a solution tailored to the company’s unique demands. Following the success of the Italian implementation, the team faced a new challenge in Switzerland. The Swiss project, similar to the Italian one, aimed to highlight the superiority of Elando’s solution over SAP. The challenge, however, lay in replicating this success in a different nation with distinct business conditions. It necessitated meticulous planning, execution, and an intimate understanding of the Swiss market and its specific needs. Moreover, ensuring full compliance with Swiss regulations added another level of complexity to the project.

Solution:
eLando’s response to Hellenic’s business operations challenges was the creation of a bespoke software development project. In order to develop this project for the Italian market, Hellenic was supported by a comprehensive team of professionals including a full-stack developer, a quality assurance engineer, and a database engineer. This collective worked intimately with Hellenic’s internal stakeholders to decipher their specific needs and create a solution tailored to meet these demands. By adopting an agile development approach, involving regular meetings and feedback sessions, we ensured the solution was in line with the client’s needs and expectations.
Our team initially carried out a comprehensive assessment of Hellenic’s present SAP system to pinpoint the areas where it was insufficiently flexible. We subsequently built a custom solution using a precise technology stack. The crafted solution was meant to flawlessly incorporate with Hellenic’s current legacy systems while also delivering the required flexibility and scalability for the company.
Following the transition of the solution to production and its subsequent utilization by clients, we supplemented the team with an additional developer and database engineer for ongoing support and further development. This team’s mandate was to tackle any issues that emerged and to implement any necessary system updates or enhancements. In conclusion, the solution we designed for Hellenic’s business processes was specifically tailored to meet their unique requirements. It was engineered to be adaptable, scalable, and user-friendly. Moreover, the solution was designed to blend flawlessly with existing legacy systems, ensuring a seamless transition with little to no disruption to the company’s daily operations.
Technical Context:
The tech stack employed in both the Italian and Swiss projects was identical, as it was chosen for its capacity to fulfill the company’s unique requirements and seamlessly integrate with pre-existing legacy systems. The components of the tech stack encompassed:
- Backend: ASP.NET API was used to provide a robust and reliable backend system that could handle large amounts of data and handle high traffic loads.
- Front-end: Angular with AG grid was used for the front-end to create a user-friendly interface for planning and reporting. Angular, a powerful framework, enables the development of responsive and dynamic user interfaces, while AG grid provides advanced functionality for data grids and tables.
- Database: Azure SQL was used for the database management, which provided a robust and secure database that could easily scale.
- Infrastructure: We used Azure App Services for its flexibility and scalability to handle heavy traffic. We also utilized Azure DevOps CD/CI Pipelines to speed up deployment, allowing quicker updates and bug fixes.
In summary, the technology selection for this project was aimed at delivering a sturdy, adaptable, and scalable solution. It was specifically tailored to cater to Hellenic’s requirements while ensuring ease of use and compatibility with existing legacy systems.
Result:
The bespoke service that Elando developed was carefully constructed to fit Hellenic’s distinct demands, emphasizing adaptability, scalability, and user-friendliness. Our chosen technology components were instrumental in creating a solution that was solid, trustworthy, and capable of growth. The merger with the current legacy systems was smooth and maintained the continuity of the company’s routine functions.
eLando’s committed development and support team promptly and effectively managed any emerging issues, ensuring timely system updates and enhancements. This efficiency facilitated Hellenic in upgrading their operational efficiency, gaining a competitive edge in their market. The Italian project served as a practical demonstration that Profit and loss planning can transition away from SAP, while the Swiss initiative highlighted the solution’s superiority over SAP, demonstrating its replicability across various nations and business demands.
